A rug collects dust, allergens and odors without you noticing. Regular care at home keeps it fresh longer, but sometimes a deep professional cleaning cannot be avoided. We will go through both.
Regular vacuuming is the foundation
Vacuum your rug at least twice a week, and more often in high-traffic areas. Every couple of weeks, go over it on both sides: just as much dust collects underneath. This is what mainly protects the pile from premature wear.
Baking soda against odors
If a rug has absorbed an odor, sprinkle baking soda evenly over it, leave it for 30–60 minutes and vacuum thoroughly. Baking soda draws out odors and freshens the pile. It is a simple and safe method, especially if you have pets.
Deal with fresh stains right away
Blot the stain with a napkin from the edges toward the center, without rubbing. Be careful with home remedies: vinegar and baking soda do not suit every pile, and on colored rugs it is better to test them first on an inconspicuous spot.
When you need professional cleaning
If a rug has gone dull, absorbed a stubborn odor or the stains will not come out, home remedies are no longer enough. Professional rug cleaning cleans the pile to its full depth and removes allergens; we clean wall-to-wall carpet right on the floor as part of carpet cleaning.
